Fiber Cement Siding from James Hardie: A Durable, Beautiful Option

For homeowners, picking the right siding can reward them three times over– not only is it one of the most important considerations in your home’s appearance, but modern siding materials will protect your home and even increase its energy efficiency. For this reason, Adam Quenneville is proud to partner with James Hardie. We evaluate our products carefully for quality and value, and James Hardie not only invented fiber cement siding but remains the recognized industry leader.

Fiber cement has been reported to provide the best return on investment of any major exterior remodeling project. It costs less than wood, doesn’t attract pests, and is water-resistant, protecting against swelling, cracking and buckling. They have products engineered for every climate – New England is in Hardie Zone 5, where the seasonal temperature shifts can be extreme and there is year-round precipitation, so HZ5 products are made to resist wet, freezing conditions. And since fiber cement siding is non-combustible and resistant to hail damage, it may even reduce your insurance premium!

With their new Magnolia Home collection, the durability and quality of James Hardie combines with the curated design of Chip & Joanna Gaines to create an inspired collection of exteriors that will transform your home. To maximize curb appeal, James Hardie Magnolia Home products use ColorPlus® Technology finishes to help keep your home looking beautiful longer. With baked-on color that arrives ready for installation, Hardie® siding and trim products with ColorPlus® Technology finishes offer exterior solutions with consistent color that resists fading, chipping and cracking. In addition to a variety of carefully curate colors inspired by nature, Hardie® offers multiple styles – plank, vertical panel, or classic shingle. Visually, you can replicate the smooth texture of vinyl siding or replicate traditional wood texture with Select Cedarmill.

If style is what you want others to see when they look at your house, then start with the siding. A house that is wrapped in one of the rich and luxurious colors of siding will give your home new personality and charm. It becomes outstanding in the neighborhood and every time you pull into your driveway, you will be happy that you did it.

Adam Quenneville Roofing & Siding works with a variety of quality siding manufacturers so you can get the look you want, or we can match any siding if you have a photo. If you are interested in vinyl siding, Adam Quenneville can help you select from the many colors, styles, textures, and finishes that are available. Our siding partners also keep sustainable building practices in mind, ensuring that the vinyl products we offer meet the strictest environmental standards set forth by authorities.

Not sure if you need new siding? Schedule an appointment to have one of our siding specialists do an inspection. Meanwhile, you can do your own inspection to see if there’s anything obvious. Take a walk around the outside of each building and examine the siding all the way around. Do you see any missing siding? Can you see building paper or wood through any seams in the siding? Do you see any warps, stains, mold, mildew, holes, or cracks? Is your siding faded, discolored or dull? Do you see sawdust or evidence of termites around your foundation? Inspect indoor areas for signs of moisture, water stains, or mold and mildew on interior walls. If you suspect that something is wrong, we can look and offer some recommendations.

Siding for Commercial Properties

If style is important for your property, then start with the siding. A residential community or a commercial building that is wrapped in one of the rich and luxurious colors of siding will give your property personality and charm. It adds to the value of your property, and gives it a fresh new appearance, protection from the weather, and more insulation value. Adam Quenneville Roofing & Siding works with a variety of siding manufacturers so you can get the look you want, or we can match any siding colors you can imagine. Hand-select your property’s siding from a gallery of colors, styles, textures, and finishes. Adam Quenneville also partners with manufacturers to support sustainable building; the vinyl products we use can meet the strictest environmental standards set forth by your local authorities.

Made primarily from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) resins, vinyl siding was first manufactured in the 1950s, but the widespread use of this siding material didn’t begin until the late 1970s.

Vinyl siding offers the advantages of zero maintenance, immunity to mold and moisture damage and plenty of styles and colors to choose from. In better-quality vinyl siding, a wood-grain surface texture can make the product look surprisingly like real wood. Better grades of vinyl siding also tend to be thicker, for improved rigidity and greater impact resistance.

Because PVC expands and contracts significantly in response to temperature changes, it can’t be solidly nailed to wall sheathing. Instead, each course of siding “floats” on slotted nailing fins.

If you’re planning to have new siding installed, it’s smart to ask about rigid foam insulation that can be installed beneath or integrally with the siding. Rigid foam insulation is made in different thicknesses and comes in large panels.

Added value. Installing a continuous layer of rigid foam insulation beneath new exterior siding can stop cold winter drafts and make your home more comfortable and more energy efficient.

This added layer of insulation improves the R-value of your exterior walls, helping your house to retain heat during winter months, and keeping heat out during the hotter months. A layer of rigid foam insulation can be installed beneath the new siding, or you can buy your siding with the foam already attached to each siding course or panel.

  • Old windows stand out like a sore thumb when a house gets new siding. Older windows also waste energy, compromise interior comfort and require regular painting. For the ultimate exterior makeover, consider having replacement windows installed along with your new siding.
  • Having new windows and siding installed at the same time will likely cost less than having the two projects done separately, especially if both are completed by the same contractor.
  • With possible features like low-e, argon-filled insulated glass and advanced vinyl construction, you’ll get maximum energy savings and totally maintenance-free windows.

The overall impression created by new siding is as much about trim details as it is the siding itself. In a truly professional installation, the corner trim, J-channels, soffit panels, gutters and downspouts all look good together. Compatibly colored caulks and sealants should also be used. Make sure to discuss these details along with your siding choices when planning your new siding installation.

Gutter Systems

Gutters and Gutter Covers

When it rains it pours and it’s always easier to enjoy the pitter patter of rain on your roof when you have a new or improved gutter system in place. Adam Quenneville Roofing & Siding knows the science of roofing and uses that knowledge to determine which gutters would work best on your house. Aluminum gutters are durable, long-lasting, stylish, and their function is to catch the water and direct it away from your foundation. A great gutter system will also include gutter covers to keep debris from collecting and clogging the waterflow. Gutter covers mean you don’t have to clean the leaves out of your gutters every fall. They also help to prevent ice dams from building up during the winter.

How to Check Your Gutters For Damage

Go outdoors to look at your house where your gutters are in view. If you live in a tall house, use a pair of binoculars so you don’t have to climb a ladder. Look for missing or damaged gutter sections. Check the gutter straps to make sure they still attached. Check your gutter sections for bends, holes, cracks, or separated seams. Check your end caps, elbows, and downspouts. If you have leaf screens, are they still in place, damaged or missing? On a rainy day, watch how the water flows down your roof, through the gutters and out of the downspout. Does the water flow smoothly or is it blocked? Does water flow over the top of the gutter? If you expect any issues, ask us to take a closer look. We can show you some great solutions

Window Replacement

Let us help you with window replacement for your business.

Window Replacement for Commercial Properties

Windows offer more than a view to the outdoors. If the windows on your property are old, damaged, or leaking air or water, or are low quality, chances are you may need a window replacement. Indoor comfort and energy consumption are greatly affected by air infiltration, and this is an important rating to consider when deciding on which windows to install. Adam Quenneville Roofing & Siding relies on the quality of Harvey vinyl windows. Low maintenance Harvey windows have frames and sashes with thick walls and multiple air chambers to provide excellent thermal insulation. The vinyl is high quality to ensure strength and durability, and they offer superior energy efficiency so you can save on heating and cooling costs. If you decide on window replacement for the property you manage, consider adding Harvey windows to each unit. Adam Quenneville Roofing & Siding can inspect your current window situation to make recommendations for more efficient windows for every unit, or for every floor of your commercial building.
