You have seen a roof that is all black and stained or has mold or algae visibly growing on it. Well these NEED to be cleaned and the homeowner will be glad you explain why.
A couple reasons it should be cleaned:
* The organic materials in your shingles act as a food source for organisms like algae, lichens and moss. So LITERALLY it is eating away at the roof.
* Moss and lichens can penetrate your shingles and roof deck, causing wood rot. Moisture can penetrate cracks in the wood and create an environment friendly to mold growth.
* A stained roof can lead to cancellation of thier homeowners’ insurance policy.
