Adam Quenneville Rofing, Siding & Windows Announces Move into Solar Industry with New Division: “Adam Quenneville Solar”

South Hadley, MA, May 15th, 2012: Adam Quenneville Roofing, Siding & Windows announced today that it has launched a renewable energy division to incorporate solar products into their traditional business services. A variety of new solar products are now available through ‘Adam Quenneville Solar’ and select team members have recently completed training in the renewable energy field.

The company has also recently partnered with GAF Solar, an alternative energy firm and education center located in Binghamton, New York. GAF Solar provided classroom and hands-on training to Adam Quenneville personnel in solar crystalline (PV) applications.

The growing demand for alternative energy products has rapidly been moving from large-scale applications to more residential and commercial solutions as a result of increased availability and lower costs. Adam Queneville Roofing, Siding & Windows has been a leader in residential and commercial roofing applications since 1995.

“This is just a natural fit for us,” says Wyatt Couture, Director of Marketing, Adam Quenneville Roofing, Siding & Windows, “As the area’s leader in shingle waste recycling, we are always looking for additional ways to protect our planet’s resources and reduce harmful emissions. Most of today’s solar equipment incorporates roofing as part of its delivery system. Our renewable energy division will remain dedicated to solar and any other new technologies that can provide alternative energy resources for our clients.”

“Partnering with GAF Solar is a great opportunity to bring solar to as many of my customers as possible,” says Adam Quenneville, Owner and founder, “It allows me to spread the word that solar technology is on center stage today in Massachusetts. We want to give our clients a clean energy solution, and solar is just the resource to do it.”

Adam Quenneville is known to practice what he preaches. He is currently installing a new photo voltaic solar system atop his 10,000 square foot operations building that will produce enough solar electricity to power the entire facility. With a LED monitoring system for all to view it’s production, upon entering the company’s main office at 160 Old Lyman Rd, South Hadley, MA all will be able to see, first hand, the power of the sun, and the “Green” mission the company follows. After all, the company’s motto is, “Saving Our Planet, One Home At A Time.”

Adam Quenneville Solar now offers the option to purchase photo voltaic solar products or simply reduce your monthly electricity rates by having solar products installed on your home free of charge.

Quenneville Roofing was founded in 1947 by Adam and Wyatt’s grandfather, Eugene Quenneville. Still a family company today, Adam has made it a personal mission to give back to his community, donating numerous times to funds and charities, such as, the Jimmy Fund and the Bay State Medical Children’s Hospital, as well as, donating his own time and resources to put Roof’s on homes like injured vet Sgt. Josh Bouchard of Granby, MA and the Loraine’s Soup Kitchen in Chicopee, MA.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is announcing plans to install solar panels at Massachusetts stores in the next two years, making it the largest user of solar power in the state.

Company officials, joined by Rick Sullivan, the state’s secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs, announced the initiative Tuesday at the Statehouse.

Wal-Mart will partner with Greenskies of Connecticut to install the panels at 27 stores in the state.

According to Wal-Mart officials, the company aims to be completely powered by renewable energy. They estimate the panels will generate between 10-to-15 percent of each store’s energy needs.

The company has already begun acting on plans to install solar panels at stores in places like California.

The state’s attorney general says complaints filed against home improvement contractors were among last year’s top consumer issues.

The Better Business Bureau, the state’s Attorney General’s Office and the Office of Consumer Affairs all met in Boston Tuesday to reveal the top five consumer complaints and issues of 2011.

The top issue last year was auto insurance related with more than 8,000 people calling into the Office of Consumer Affairs to file a complaint.

Not far behind, rounding out the top three, were contractor complaints. The office received 3,200 complaints regarding home improvement contractors, something a lot people here can relate to, given the number of natural disasters we experienced in 2011.

“Definitely a lot of contractors coming in ‘oh we’ll clean this up for you’ just give us the check. They are going to cut for you and then never showing back up. I’ve definitely heard quite a few stories about that,” said David Fowler of Northampton.

Catherine Banks of Springfield says well I do know that because of the tornado and all of the problems in Springfield that people have come from all over the country to come in and there have been a lot of scams with people outside of the community.

The other top consumer complaints were in the following industries, home insurance, used car sales and health insurance.

Click here for more information, like telltale signs that can help you avoid these pitfalls. Consumers can visit the Federal Trade Commission website.

One Spfld family qualified for over $7K

Eight million dollars in state and federal funds are waiting to be claimed by residents and businesses affected by the June 1st tornadoes.

Whether you lost one window or your entire home, if you’re rebuilding with energy efficiency in mind, you can qualify for grants and loans being offered by the state. It’s part of a government effort to incentivise energy efficient home repairs.

Many home and business owners many are still waiting for insurance settlements before starting the rebuilding process. Others may have already finished repairs. 22News spoke to one Springfield family that took advantage of these grants.

Nearly nine months after it was damaged, Ron and Nancy Alpine’s Springfield house is finally starting to look like home again. They were finally able to move back in last weekend. The couple told 22News the process of obtaining grants was easier than they thought.

“They went through our house, told us what we needed to do to be energy efficient,” explained Nancy. “We did that, and there were grants that give you up and above what your insurance company would give you.”

By installing an energy efficient home heating system, insulation, doors, windows and appliances, the Alpines were able to qualify for over seven thousand dollars in grants and rebates.

With eight million dollars in federal and state funds available, state agencies are hoping to make the rebuilding process in Western Mass a model for the nation.

“Natural disasters happen all across the country,” said Galen Nelson from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. “Why not rebuild with 21st century innovations? Build homes and build businesses that save energy, keep money in the pockets of homeowners, and make our businesses more competitive.”

If your home or business was damaged by the June 1st tornadoes, and you’re installing energy efficient modifications like windows, doors, insulation, furnaces, or solar systems, there may be money available for you.

To qualify you must have proof that these repairs are for damages from the tornado. Supporting documentation includes insurance records, FEMA records or city building permits.

Based on the repairs, you can either get a grant up to $20,000, or a zero interest loan up to $100,000.

How FEMA assistance has helped: wwlp.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s been a month since the President declared a major disaster for Hampden and Worcester counties. So far, FEMA has declared $5 million for disaster assistance for individuals and business owners.

Since the Federal Emergency Management Agency has been called in more than 3,000 applications have been filed for assistance and FEMA wants people to continue, even if they are unsure if they are eligible.

Daniel Llargues, a Public Information Officer for FEMA said “We cover the unmet needs, whatever the insurance company’s not going to cover, won’t cover, we might be able to cover it with a grant.”

So far, people in neighborhood hit by the tornado have seen some immediate assistance. Ana Gelinas of Springfield said, “The one very helpful thing was the disaster cards that they handed out for replacing all the food items that were lost.”

For those who haven’t filed, there still is time. “If you register today we will be able to send an inspector out to your property as soon as possible, 24 hours that’s how long it’s taking for us to get an inspector out to your property,” said Llargues.

But if the government shuts down on August 2nd because of the Federal Debt ceiling, there could be problems in the long run. As with all federal agencies, FEMA receives a budget appropriated by Congress but they also are given an amount of money in a Disaster Relief Fund. There is still more than 1.3 billion dollars available in that fund.

That’s good news for now for those still cleaning up and trying to move on like John Malmborg of Springfield, “Just trying to get back to some sense of normalcy, it’s not going to look like that, not in my lifetime with the trees down, just trying to get some sense of normalcy back would be great.”

The deadline to apply for federal assistance is August 15th.
