Saving our planet one home at a time!
How does a roofing company recycle? When removing a roof, the metal, paper, plastic, tar, and shingles are all separated. The materials are taken to a recycler who grinds it up, separates the nails again and resells the leftover product, which are quarter-sized or smaller chunks that are used to mix with asphalt and pave roads.
What is the am
ount of shingles that will be recycled from my home? Well every house is different, but the average weight of materials recycled from the reroof of a 2,000 square-foot house is 10,000 pounds.
Is recycling shingles common for all roofers? No, traditionally the removed shingles are brought to a landfill. Adam Quenneville Roofing, Siding & Windows has been recycling our shingles since 2007. We are one of only a few companies in the whole state to do this.
How much is recycled every year? We recycle over two million pounds of roofing shingles every year.
Why is recycling important? As a Dad, Adam knows that we need to have a healthy planet for his children. He knows this is important to our customers and their children and grandchildren as well. The even bigger picture of why recycling is important comes from the experts.
Does my project cost more because of the recycling? No, any costs associated with recycling are absorbed by the company as our commitment to making this a better community.
